In a group therapy session they claimed would make us feel less alone, you sat across from me with your dark tussled hair and sunken eyes. You were wearing a stained denim jacket with patched elbows and torn sleeves. The group leader told each of us to go in a circle and exchange compliments with someone else to get the ball rolling. When the circle got to me, I told you your jacket made you look homeless and you told me my haircut made me look like an ugly dyke. We were both asked to leave. When we parted at the door, I told you to go fuck yourself and you told me to go to Hell.

Turning a page with only a few fingers, the 10 year old masked boy known as Cry was under a tree, scanning each and every word.

All three flashlights whirled to shine on her face. That must have looked so cool to see a mare standing up to a full ten foot height and placing hands on her hips. If only she had a video camera to capture the view.

The thugs had ski masks hiding their faces, but she could easily smell their immediate fear. One was carrying a large sledgehammer in his spar hand, while another had the crowbar used to break the door.

"You won't be hurting Hazel, John, or anyone for that matter." Hazel snorted before flexing to make her muscles puff up. "Not while I'm breathing!"

I am loving the narration in this. The way you switch between first person (Jess' thoughts) and third person. I very much enjoyed this.
